Position:

Junior Designer

AMS are a high-end bespoke building and joinery company with their own in-house design team.

I worked at AMS helping in the design and production of specialist commissioned furniture. During my time there I designed bathroom and sitting room pieces, for high profile clients. Due to the nature of the company I was able to follow the process from idea generation through to the finished product.

My role included attending meetings with clients to ascertain their needs and requirements, I then produced hand sketches, made scale models and produced for them computer visualisations. I also assisted the clients in their choosing of appropriate materials and finishes. I learned and become highly proficient at AutoCAD and was able to produce working drawings for the manufacturing process.

On the production side I worked in the joinery shop. During this time I learnt important skills from the cabinetmakers. I was able to gain hands on experience and develop specialist knowledge of different manufacturing processes. These include processes such as laminating, CNC routing and various finishing applications.
